Embotape Horse Wormer
Embotape wormer is for the control of large and small strongyles, pinworms, roundworms in horses and other equines, it contains pyrantel embonate One tube will treat 600kg but. if you are dosing a horse from tapeworm you will require a double dose, ie two tubes for a 600 kg horse. Each oral syringe is graduated in 100kg markings for accurate dosing.
Embotape is suitable for stallions, foals over four weeks of age and is safe to use in pregnant and lactating mares.
Adverse Reactions and Contraindications
- Caution is advised in foals that have a high number of Parascaris equorum worms; they could suffer from intestinal blockage. Signs of this, like colic, can appear just 30 minutes after treatment.
- It's not advised to use pyrantel together with levamisole or piperazine.
- Not to be used in horses and ponies intended for human consumption.
Overdosing
Pyrantel embonate is generally safe for horses, ponies, and foals even at dosages up to 20 times the standard recommended dose. Tests have shown no negative effects on blood counts or specific enzyme levels in the serum.
