Cosecure Sheep Bolus

A direct to rumen, continuous release nutritional bolus which supplies ionic copper, ionic cobalt, and selenium at levels compatible with the animal’s daily requirements for up to eight months.

For use in areas with copper and selenium deficiencies and for improving cobalt supply in sheep over 25kg.

Key Benefits

  • Unique Bimeda long-lasting soluble glass bolus formulation provides up to eight months' supply of copper, selenium, and cobalt.
  • Boluses offer trace elements at levels aligned with the animal's daily requirements.
  • Aids in treating and preventing actual deficiencies, as well as preventing and treating thiomolybdate toxicity.
  • Bimeda boluses are the only true completely dissolving boluses designed for a slow and constant dissolution, ensuring continuous mineral cover.

Dosage & Administration

  • For sheep over 25kg live weight, one Cosecure or CoseIcure bolus may be administered.
  • For ruminating lambs under 25kg and over 6 weeks of age, Cosecure Lamb boluses are available.

Preparation: Remove boluses from the foil pack, ensuring they reach room temperature (15-20oC) before administering. Sudden temperature changes may cause fine cracks, affecting bolus activity.

Loading the Applicator: Insert the bolus fully into the applicator head until the push rod engages.

Application: Place the bolus end of the applicator into the center of the sheep's mouth, directing it to the back of the tongue. Squeeze the trigger for easy bolus release. Adjust the gun position if resistance is felt.

Prevent the bolus from falling out by ensuring the flat edge aligns with the ridged edge in the applicator.

Ensuring Swallowing: Confirm that the animal swallows the bolus effortlessly. If the reflex is not prompt, adjust your technique to position the bolus correctly at the back of the tongue.

The reflex may not occur easily if the bolus is not administered into the very back of the tongue, requiring adjustment for precise positioning.

The stem of the applicator should be straight down the centre line of the head and the trigger handle should be in the vertical plane.

Consult your animal health advisor prior to administering boluses.
