When administered in amounts suited to the weight of dogs and cats, Schesir Wild Alaskan Fish Oil provides around 50-300 milligrams of linoleic acid, the essential Omega-6 fatty acid. On the one hand, linoleic acid is vital for your pet because it cannot be produced metabolically; on the other, it has been shown that large, unbalanced amounts of omega-6 fatty acids cause a higher risk of inflammatory disorders such as arthritis, stiff joints and weakening of the immune system. The fastest absorbed Omega-3 is derived from cold water fish such as salmon.
Exhaustive testing has shown that the oil extracted from wild salmon and cod caught in the waters of Alaska have a very high proportion of Omega-3/6 (9-10), which is three times higher than the oils sourced from farmed salmon. This proportion is like a fingerprint that identifies the source of any salmon oil beyond all doubt, including those sold as "wild" but which are really derived from farmed salmon.
