The above values are based on maintenance guideline volumes, but actual requirements may vary depending on age, breed, and activity level of the animal.
It is important to consider additional or ongoing fluid losses. For microenteral nutrition via a feeding tube, start with 0.25 - 0.5ml/kg/hr for hours 0 - 4, and then increase by +50% every subsequent 4 hours
