Nobilis Pigeon Vaccine PMV 80 Dose

For the active immunisation of pigeons against clinical signs caused by a virulent PPMV-1 infection, this vaccine is effective. It has been proven to significantly reduce virus excretion after a challenge.

Immunity against paramyxo virus starts to take effect approximately 4 weeks after the primary vaccination, and a duration of immunity of 1 year has been demonstrated.

Also available as Nobilis (Nobivac) PMV Vaccine 200 dose

Dosage and Administration

Each animal should be given 0.25 ml of vaccine by subcutaneous injection into the lower back part of the neck. Ensure that vaccination equipment is clean and sterile before use.

Only healthy birds should be vaccinated.

Vaccination within 4 weeks of the start of the breeding season is not recommended. No information is available on the safety of this product during the reproduction period.

Special Precautions

To the user

This product contains mineral oil. Accidental injection/self-injection could result in severe pain and swelling, particularly if injected into a joint or finger, and in rare cases could result in the loss of the affected finger if prompt medical attention is not given. If you are accidentally injected with the product, seek prompt medical advice even if only a very small amount is injected and take the package insert with you. If pain persists for more than 12 hours after medical examination, seek medical advice again.

To the physician

This product contains mineral oil. Even if small amounts have been injected, accidental injection with this product may cause intensive swelling, which may, for example, result in ischaemic necrosis and even the loss of a digit. Expert, PROMPT, surgical attention is required and may necessitate early incision and irrigation of the injected area, especially where there is involvement of a finger pulp or tendon.

Interactions

No information is available on the safety and efficacy of this vaccine when used with any other veterinary medicinal product. A decision to use this vaccine before or after any other veterinary medicinal product therefore needs to be made on a case-by-case basis. Do not mix with any other veterinary medicinal product.

A good immune response is reliant on the reaction of an immunogenic agent and a fully competent immune system. Immunogenicity of the vaccine antigen will be reduced by poor storage or inappropriate administration. Immunocompetence of the animal may be compromised by a variety of factors including poor health, nutritional status, genetic factors, concurrent drug therapy, and stress. Under certain conditions, for example, extreme disease pressure and variant challenge, fully immune birds may succumb to disease. Therefore, successful vaccination may not be synonymous with full protection in the face of a disease challenge.

If this vaccine kept at room temperature for nearly 24 hrs accidentally , will the potency be the same??? There is more damage done to the vaccine when it becomes too cold rather than too warm. It should be kept between 2-8 degrees however is tested to be stable at warmer temperatures for short periods of time for transport reasons.
